[squid-users] squid and SMTP/POP

I have configured squid for first time on single compr.
The browser goes thru' proxy but mail smtp/pop and yahoo messsenger can 
connect directly as they don't even check if squid is running or not.
Plz. suggest a fix or some ACL for this
