Sorry Mike,
I did not gather you were aware of the wininet.dll issue.
As to a patched version of the DLL, I have not had time to track it down on Microsoft's site. A Windows Update does not fix the problem, nor does re-installing IE 6.0 with SP1. It seems IE only uses the wininet.dll. It does not install it or update it.
My work around for now has been to use the Windows 2003 Servers with Terminal Services (RDP sessions) for users needing https access.
If you have time to track it down, please post where to find it. I've received E-Mails from others looking for a patched wininet.dll.
Thanks.

Thank You,
I know it is not a Squid issue. I was just wondering if anyone in this community had come across this issue. I was looking for a solution. Do you know of a fixed wininet.dll? Location it can be downloaded from?
Thank you

Hello,
This is not a Squid problem. Check your access log. You will see an initial https request, then the client switches to regular http requests. It is a problem (bug) in Microsoft's wininet.dll.
A wininet.dll version like "6.0.2800.1405" on Windows 2000 sp4 does not work correctly. A wininet.dll version like "6.0.3790.118" on Windows 20003 does work correctly. The fact that it is a system library that contains the problem, any application making a https call is affected.
Please see Microsoft for a fixed version of wininet.dll.

Hi,
I was wondering if anyone has seen an issue like this. I have SQUID 2.5.STABLE1 on RedHat 9. I have always been able to access SSL pages. Since a recent Windows Update I get a Squid error. If I refresh I get the site. Other PC's that do not have the latest updates work fine.
Any pointers would be appreciated.
Here is the URL used for this example:
https://secure.e2rm.com/registrant/solicitOthers.aspx?EventID=838&LangPref=en-CA&RegistrationID=35295
Here is the Error:
