yes, httpd.conf has been configured and points to correct path.
i assume if this was not the case, i would not be seeing the loging page........

Did you already install a valid apache conf (httpd.conf) file, for your webserver installation ?
If not, I think you need a mininum configuration for your environment for
apache , such as location of cgi bin e.d.
