BTW, I tried censornet which uses the same stuff squid, dansguardian etc. But it marries the mac address's of the machines. Not very hotspot friendly.

Now to go google for a way to redirect the squid port to port 8080

Probably if you combine acl-based filtering and authentication in squid.
No idea how long the authentication is valid (i.e. may be used by the
next user...)



If basic authentication is used, the user will have to reauthenticate if the browser is closed and re-opened.
