Not that I know of. Patches are welcome. But authenticate_ttl should work reasonably well.
The version I am running is 2.5stable6. I have tried authenticate_ttl but the authentication script still gets invoked each time a page is being downloaded.
I see the exact opposite where the digest helper is only queried once per user until Squid is restarted or the user is completely expired by authenticate_ttl idle timeout.
What is desired is that there is a ttl specifying how often the helper should be requeried, and in addition to requery the helper on authentication failures.
