Further to my previous post I also saw in the cache.log:

2004/09/19 14:22:28| /var/spool/squid/swap.state: (13) Permission denied
FATAL: storeDiskdDirOpenSwapLog: Failed to open swap log.
Squid Cache (Version 2.5.STABLE4): Terminated abnormally.

And if I ls /var/spool/squid/swap.state:

[EMAIL PROTECTED] squid]# ls -l /var/spool/squid/swap.state
-rw-r--r-- 1 root squid 768000 Sep 17 11:32 /var/spool/squid/swap.state

That appears correct, doesn't it?

Thanks again

Roland
