Connection timed out simply means that your squid box
can not reach groups.yahoo.com.
There can be various reasons , some of them you may have
no control over. Such as a broken link in remote 'internet paths'.
Try
% ping groups.yahoo.com
from your SQUID bx
Well groups.yahoo.com, seems to allow ping, this not always the
case for nodes hosting webservers :

ms

ms
64 bytes from groups1.vip.scd.yahoo.com (66.218.66.240): icmp_seq=2 ttl=48 time=156.1
ms
Check whether your ping test works and/or ping does not return,for
instance strange error messages.
