I'm running Squid 2.5 STABLE 4 (patched by Mandrake for mdk 10.0). The
same machine has BIND running as authoritative nameserver for our
internal network.
If I set log_fqdn 'on' then as expected the machine name is entered in
the log instead of the IP address, however there are still a small
number of IPs in there - maybe 100 out of 100,000. All those IPs have a
valid reverse lookup.
I set up access control using srcdomain in the hope of 'forcing' a
reverse lookup but there are still a few rogue log entries getting through.
There was a thread on this list about a year ago where someone had the
same problem but I don't see a resolution.
Is the problem fixed in a later Squid version? There is nothing relevant
in the changelogs.
