One morning, when Squid has died, before restarting, check the end of your
cache.log (tail -n 50 /path/to/cache.log). That might give you some insight
into what is happening.

In the mean time, run a "squid -k parse" and see if it complains about
anything.

Subject: [squid-users] Squid shuts down after modifying squidGuard

Hi list,

I have an unusual problem. I am running squid version Squid/2.4.STABLE7 and
squidGuard 1.2.0 on Linux 2.4.18 (Mandrake MNF).

Any time I update the blacklists (normally once a week), my Internet dies.
Here's what I do.

* Manually add entries to the squidGuard blacklist or expressionlist
* run squidGuard -C /full/path/to/blacklist
* run squid -k configure
* test that the site is blocked (sometimes isn't, have to run squidGuard
again)
* make sure the Internet is still working.

I normally do this in the evening when my users are gone. The next morning
when we come in, the Internet (squid?) is down. This happens every time.
What am I doing wrong? Thanks
