The only caution about RAID I have seen is that RAID-5 will kill diskperformance with Squid (due to its usage profile)
How? Why? Please explain. Just because the FAQ says so doesn't make it true, or explain why.
RAID-5 hates random writes, and Squid causes a lot of random writes.
See any RAID paper on when the different RAID levels is suitable. The Squid I/O profile is lots of random read/writes, more writes than reads.
