A HTTP/1.0 proxy may add this header. All this header says is that the request has gone via this proxy and the protocol revision the client of that proxy vere using.
Perhaps that is why the proxy is sending 1.1 messages back.
If so then they need to read the RFC again.
Also, another oddity, as you can see above squid is announcing that it is squid/2.5.STABLE6 although actually the version installed is from a squid 2.5 STABLE5 rpm
What does "/path/to/sbin/squid -v" indicate?
