I started looking into what updates have been applied. I last applied several hotfixes last week. Here's the stupid thing about this that resolved it. I ran dcdiag on the Windows server and found that the NETLOGON service was in a PAUSED state! How that happened I have no idea. Anyway, started that up, the problem disappeared. Here I am wasting time chasing this down and it's a service not running. Very odd for NETLOGON to do that, guess I have other work to do now to see why that happened...
Anyway, I'm glad to have found the problem and all is well with Squid now... If you will need the most recent SAMBA release in cooperation with SQUID. M.
