I confirmed that the DC failed (was offline). How can I configure squid/winbind to try another DC or load balance what DC it uses? I have 2 DC's (that also run DNS on them) in the site in question.

This smells like a networking problem. Was there anything relevant in /var/log/messages besides the messages from Squid?
