The proxy doesn't have to entirely require authentication. Ie, the ACLs are: acl proxy_hosts src 1.1.1.1 1.1.1.2 1.1.1.3 1.1.1.4 acl local src 192.168.0.0/16 acl proxyauth proxy_auth REQUIRED http_access allow proxy_hosts http_access allow lcl proxyauth http_access deny all This way the proxy_hosts have access without needing to authenticate. That said, I believe you can configure up basic authentication in the cache_peer line. adrian
