The FTP URL syntax for non-anonymous FTP is ftp://user:[EMAIL PROTECTED]/ and is understood by all browsers, most of the time.. Squid also supports requesting authentication when seeing an ftp://[EMAIL PROTECTED]/ URL, but not all browsers supports authentication onf proxied FTP URLs and display an error instead (either internal error, or the Squid "authentication required" error)..
