No Squid version supports other than plain-text authentication to ftp://
servers.

To authenticate to ftp sites the user must use URLs like

  ftp://[EMAIL PROTECTED]/
or
  ftp://user:[EMAIL PROTECTED]/

as ftp:// URLs without account information is defined by the ftp:// URL
standard as anonymous FTP only.
