I didn't have via defined in my squid.conf, so that should be default on both servers.
On FreeBSD, I built 3.4.0.1 from the website. CentOS has 3.3.8. I'll look into labbing this and seeing if I can reproduce the error and then try working with the cache_peer_access rules to deny the local box. I'll let you know what I find! -Tyler Sweet
