Sir, the robot is used to create the blacklists file that is available
on the squidGuard site. The blacklist page says the robot runs for about
7 hours to create the files. It also says on that page that:

- The program is undocumented
- You must read the perl code to figure out what it does and how to
configure it
- The robot is not recommended for use at the average site

(Would you mind sending me a link pointing to where you found those
"squidgurard robot recommended options" that you listed?)

In all the time that I've monitored this list I think I've seen one
exchange about the robot; that may have been the only person here who is
running the robot.

The good news is that the robot has nothing to do with your squidGuard
not working.

Concerning the db errors you are receiving:

What entries do you have in your squid.conf file for:
cache_effective_user
cache_effective_group

Would you please post your squidGuard.conf file?

You mentioned the ads database in your message below. Would you please
post the sizes and owners of your /ads/domains and /ads/domains.db
files?

Thanks.

Subject: database errors

Can anyone help me with this error:

Some filtering is working, such as expressions for porn, but not
anything else.
When I check my log file, I receive the following

2001-10-30 23:47:52 [2119] init domainlist
/local/squid/squidGuard/dbhome/ads/domains
2001-10-30 23:47:52 [2119] loading dbfile
/local/squid/squidGuard/dbhome/ads/domains.db
2001-10-30 23:47:52 [2119] domainlist empty, removed from memory
.......
(Truncated to save space, but is repeated for every blacklist that I
am using.)

I also want to re-compile the list using the SquidGuardRobot but
cannot make it run using the suggested options

nice squidGuardRobot -d -c
/local/squid/squidGuard/config/squidGuard.conf >log 2>&1 & tail -f log

Thanks,

Manuel
