TO THE AUTHORS OF SQUIDGUARD

Note : I am currently using SquidGuard 1.2.0 and Berkeley DB 2.7.0

Hi,
I am an Internet Infrastructure Design Engineer at "Electrict de France"
(EDF). We are currently using Squid as a web cache proxy server. We would
like to add filtering capabilities to our proxy. We are divided between
Squid's own configuration possibilities and those of squidGuard.

I think Squid offers everything squidGuard does except two main features :
redirection and use of Berkeley DB libraries to make responsive and
easy-to-upgrade databases from prohibited lists.

Thus, I would like to know if you have done any response time comparisons
between Squid and squidGuard filtering. For instance, how do they perform
respectively with large lists when a url or domain at the end of the list
is requested? If you have not done any such thing, I would then appreciate
that you gave me your detailed studies on squidGuard performances.

Thank you in advance for such precious help,
sincerely,
Pejmann Amiri.
