Hi All,

I am currently running SquidGuard in an evaluation mode using a whitelist configuration and have noticed the following issue? when defining domains and subdomains.
I have scoured the archive looking for a resolution to this and it appears that no-one else has come across this.

I have a domainlist that consists of the following domain:

intel.com

Using squidGuard I am able to go to any of the pages in the intel.com domain including:
www.intel.com
developer.intel.com
appzone.intel.com
apps.intel.com
cedar.intel.com

This is fine, and works as I would expect it.
If I modify my domainlist slightly to look like the following, something unexpected (I think) occurs:

intel.com
program.intel.com

Now looking at this, would you agree that I should be able to go to anything that is in the intel.com domain/subdomain (www.intel.comdeveloper.intel.com etc) as well as being able to go to program.intel.com?

As it turns out, if I have the top level domain of intel.com listed and I have the subdomain program.intel.com listed, these become the only two sites I am now able to access at intel (intel is just an example, it is the same for any domain).

ie

intel.com                    ALLOW
www.intel.com            DENY
developer.intel.com      DENY
appzone.intel.com        DENY
apps.intel.com            DENY
cedar.intel.com            DENY
programmer.intel.com    ALLOW

Is this by design?
Is there someway that I can configure squidguard to allow users to go to sites in intel whether they be explicitly listed or covered by the intel.com entry?

Any feedback on this would be most appreciated.

Regards
Jay Turner
