We run squidGuard 1.20 with Berkley db 2.7.7 happily. I was under the impression that squidGuard 1.20 DIDN'T work worth Berkley 3.x. See item 2 at http://www.squidguard.org/faq/

(Thanks to Robert Nickel for these specifics). Squidguard 1.14, on the other hand, requires Berkeley 2.27. You can have version 2.27 and 3.2x installed at the same time.
