Here's an update on the "freshness" of the blacklists available from
the squidGuard site.
This information is based upon my 15 blacklists downloads in 2002 (2
in January, once a week since then). I used the header information
inside the file ("This list was created on ...") to determine the
file's creation date, with the exception of the mail group, where I
had to use the file's date/time stamp.
As of 04/19/02:
Group | # in 2002 | Last(days ago)
------------|-----------|---------------
ads | 11 | 6
aggressive | 11 | 6
audio-video | 11 | 6
drugs | 11 | 6
gambling | 11 | 6
hacking | 11 | 6
mail | 0 | 218
porn | 5 | 29
proxy | 13 | 5
violence | 13 | 5
warez | 13 | 5
Column definitions:
1) Blacklist group
2) Number of times that group has been updated in 2002.
3) Data in this group last updated X days ago (as of 04/19/02)
Apparently the "mail" group was a one-time shot. It was last updated
on (get this) 09/11/01.
The porn group has been updated 5 times in 2002. The run times on
those updates, in order, were 291 hours, 307 hours, 327 hours, 97
hours, and 97 hours.
