When you say that squid logs everything, do you mean the log contains
the squidGuard log entries, too?

Does a squidGuard.log file exist? Where? Ownership and permissions?

If a squidGuard.log file does not exist, where do you expect it to be?
The log file will be in /usr/local/squidGuard/logs unless you have a
logdir statement to the contrary in your squidGuard.conf file. Would
you please post your squidGuard.conf file?

Is squidGuard running? What is listed in the
UID column?

Rick
