----> Event Description <-----------------------------------------------

Multiverse is the genre-bending art-party.
Multiverse takes place every 1st Thursday at Rx Gallery.
Multiverse is curated by Kurt.

Multiverse #005 is coming up next week! We have a slew of curator-performers
(hailing from New Langton Arts, Pond, SF Camerawork, Element of Temporary),
a laptop artist, a DJ...and, an opportunity for YOU, the audience, to strut your
stuff:

-Participatory-
James Bewley:
Be a part of Amateur Night with Gilly's G's Showcase USA! James Bewley
presents famed entertainment legend Gilly G, as he makes the first stop of his
Comeback Tour, with this one night only appearance in the Bay Area. The
beloved grasshopper is being called back into service with a new TV Pilot
called Showcase USA! He's scouring local bars and talent holes for the best in
Amateur Talent to compete for America's favor. The press says: "He's Ryan
Seacrest with antennas, or that weird scottish woman from the Swan, minus the
scottish woman part". Bring your party system and be ready to get onstage and
display whatever weird talent you might have. Crappy prizes will be given.

-Laptop-
David Figurine:
Only the best blips, beeps and boops.

-Performance-
Ev Funes + Marisa Jahn:
"Tit for Tat" is a performance-sculpture that considers the role of interpersonal
relationships in formal or 'official' negotiation processes. The performance
begins when two personages (Funes and Jahn) in identical business attire
enter the stage and shake hands. More information: http://
www.mucketymuck.org/marisa/public.html

-Performance/music/porn-
White Stool (Marisa Olson, Marc Horowitz, Jon Rolston):
Running mostly acoustic instruments (guitars, accordions, xylophones, you
name it!) through funky digital effects, White Stool fuses hip hop, rap, punk,
metal, country, and folk (to say nothing of their love of church hymns, Christmas
Carols, and national anthems) in a tasty stew of sound. Their smooth vocals are
influenced by the respective histories of comedy, art, and pornography, and
their set will be interspersed with video clips, one-minute performance actions,
and good ol' fashioned solo riffs by Marc Horowitz (on an illegally-soldered
keyboard), Marisa Olson (who recommends bringing an extra pair of socks for
when the first ones get knocked off!), and Jon Rolston (whose talents are hardly
parenthetical).
