You're invited to the Loco Bloco Summer Jam benefit. On the patio, we'll have tasty barbeque and DJs spinning Brazilian Music, Salsa, Reggae and Hip Hop. The Loco Bloco Drum and Dance Ensemble will perform live at 4P, powerful Brazilian samba music with a big percussion group, strings, horns and vocals. All ages welcome.
Loco Bloco (www.locobloco.org) is a free performing arts program for children, teens and young adults rooted in the multi-ethnic Mission District of San Francisco. They provide young people with hands on instruction in music, dance and theater traditions of the Americas, and access to express themselves on stages internationally. Loco Bloco is currently celebrating its tenth year of operation, and during its lifetime has provided free after school classes for over 3000 children in 20 schools and community centers. Loco Bloco is a guiding light in our community that inspires and mentors young people.
The Loco Bloco Drum and Dance Ensemble has been the San Francisco Carnaval Champion for two consecutive years because of their powerful performances that will infuse you with life, put a smile on your face and bring out the samba in everyone. The talent and inspiration of the Drum and Dance Ensemble, which is composed of performers who have grown in the program, is a tribute to the positive difference Loco Bloco makes in the lives of its students and in our community.
