THE HOLIDAY POPULARLY KNOWN AS HALLOWEEN IS THE TIME OF YEAR KNOWN TO WITCHES AS SAMHAIN (SOW-WEN), WHEN THE VEIL IS THIN BETWEEN THE WORLDS OF THE LIVING AND THE DEAD. RECLAIMING.ORG PRESENTS THE SPIRAL DANCE, A PARTICIPATORY PAGEANT AND RITUAL TO MARK THE TURNING OF THE SEASONS, TO HONOR OUR BELOVED DEAD AND ANCESTORS, AND TO DANCE THE ANCIENT SPIRAL OF REBIRTH. WE ALSO GATHER TO CELEBRATE THE BIRTHS OF OUR CHILDREN BORN THIS YEAR, AND OUR OWN VITAL CONNECTION TO THE EARTH AND TO ONE ANOTHER. A VARIETY OF HEALTHFUL FOOD AND DRINK WILL BE OFFERED, AS WELL AS INTERACTIVE AND SOLO ACTIVITIES, SPECTACULAR PERFORMANCES AND SACRED SPACES FOR SOLITUDE AND THOUGHT-FULLNESS. THE SPIRAL DANCE 2005 IS ON SATURDAY OCTOBER 29TH AT KEZAR PAVILION (WHEELCHAIR ACCESSIBLE), 755 STANYAN STREET, IN SAN FRANCISCO. DOORS OPEN AT 6:00 PM, RITUAL BEGINS AT 7:30 PM.
