Transmissions Gallery is showing the works of Joe Joe Webb, a Los
Angeles based graffiti artist, who aims to bridge the gap between the
underground nature of graffiti art with the more classical form of
painting. This is a show of Joe Joe's latest group of works titled
"turnstile", a return to the roots of subway graffiti and urban art.
The show is a celebration of the hip hop art of urban youth culture,
within the gardened and green neighborhood setting of North
Berkeley. The art form inspired, informed and nutured by the urban
wasteland is now recongnized within Berkeley's own suburban wasteland.
Joe Joe's artwork can be seen regularly on the television shows
CSI: NY, Everybody Hates Chris, and the music videos of P. Diddy, 50
Cent, Snoop Dogg, and G-Unit. Joe Joe has also been featured in a
variety of print publications including Joints, Catch Me If You Can,
and Frank151.
