SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. -- A protean carnival of jack-in-the-boxes from
hell, vaginal orchids, armless but not harmless bone-beings and live
entertainment will be served at an open house and exhibition of Frank
Garvey's paintings, music, videos and sculptures at the OmniCircus
theatre
and gallery on Sat., June 17 from 9 p.m.-12 midnite. The event is free,
with donations accepted. Omnicircus is located at 550 Natoma between
Mission and Howard and 6th and 7th St., (door on Russ St.), in San
Francisco.

Garvey's paintings ferment Da Vinci-like technique into audacious,
oracular
visions of working class oppression, backlit by the atomic pollution of
deadly mushroom clouds. Miniature tableaux, packed tight with sardine
tin
precision, cast humankind's inhumanity to man in blinding relief, from
mohawked skateboarders to jiving carnival freaks.

Frank Garvey is the founder of SoMa's OmniCircus, a 15-year-old theatre
which is ground zero for grim, post-9/11 Guignol movie sets,
prophesizing
America's soul-destroying demise. A science-friction, neo-crassical
cabaret
of junkyard robots, Garvey's OmniCircus exposes the brutal and violent
collisions of uber-geopolitics with human suffering in a ballistic
ballet of
butoh, live music, theatrics, virtual puppetry, experimental digital
video
and seething performance art.

Performing at the opening will be members of the OmniCircus Ensemble,
including Geoffrey Pond, Kevin Moore, Adrian Herbez, Harry Roche, Stuart
Hall, Garvey and other Bay Area performers and musicians.
