July 7 - 15 7:30pm $15 ----/ Event Description /----------------------------------------------- Purple Moon Dance Project celebrates their 15th anniversary this year with a collaboration between three pioneering artists in their fifties -- Jill Togawa, Ellen Bepp, and Alleluia Panis. "Mahina" is a unique melding of dance and music. Inspired by the Pacific Islander myth of Hina, a goddess who lives on the moon, "Mahina" is a cataclysmic meld of dance, music, and story about facing timeless challenges and ultimate responsibility --- to ourselves and the world in which we live. Founded by Togawa in 1992, the Purple Moon Dance Project exists to realize a specific creative vision: the integration of non-western and western dance forms and aesthetics and the exploration of multidisciplinary collaborations. It is a unique collaboration that explores the continuum of intimacy between women.
