Sunday, September 17th 4:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. $10-$25/sliding & No one turned away for lack of funds. ----/ Event Description /----------------------------------------------- Girlstock is an annual arts event that fosters community and benefits populations in need while showcasing and celebrating female and transgendered artists. This is the fourth installation. To date, past Girlstock benefits have raised thousands for homeless youth, cancer patients and the survivors of Hurricane Katrina. This is an age 21 + over event. Sizzling local divas Judea Eden, Jayde Blade, and Dreamboat, Where are You? (featuring Carrie Baum and Jessica Fudim) take the stage, while DJs Sarah Bee Selecta and Maei Flowers spin classic soul and easy listening. Expect compelling entertainment, fabulous food and drink, a live auction of great affordable art, and an exhibition of amazing artwork by local female and transgendered artists. 2006 marked the 25th anniversary of the AIDS virus. Since the discovery of the virus, more than 60 million people have been infected, 25 million have died, and upwards of 40 million are currently living with HIV/AIDS. Accordingly, proceeds from this year's event will be divided equally between The Positive Resource Center and Pets Are Wonderful Support. The Positive Resource Center provides culturally appropriate counseling, education and advocacy in making informed choices that maximize available benefits and employment opportunities. Pets Are Wonderful Support provides for the comprehensive needs of companion animals for low-income persons.
