For proprietary hardware, you might have better luck contacting the
manufacturer.  In the meantime, I would suggest you install the
software from source (rather simple), in which case you can watch
compilation for errors as well as configure and start the software
manually.  Note the configuration file's log settings as well, which
may help you track down any missing messages.
