I think the real issue here is not Squirrelmail, but your IMAP server. Let
me guess... you're using UW-IMAP.

I was having similar trouble with some of my folders. Switched to
Courier-IMAP, and moved everything to Maildirs, and now it's speedy, and
Rick's method works fine.

Well, I'm not going to be quite as discouraging as Rick, but I am going to
say... have at it! It's going to take some coding, and nobody knows your
needs quite as well as you.

The SpamAssassin plug in adds a couple of links to the right side of the
message header display: Add to Whitelist and Add to Blacklist. These don't
take up much room, and you could certainly evaluate that plug-in to figure
out how to do it. Unfortunately, the SpamAssassin plug-in doesn't yet work
with 1.2.8 or 1.2.9--the developer has posted here a couple times that
he's nearly done, but not quite...

You might also check out the BayesSpam plug-in. Haven't tried it, but it
sounds similar to the system you describe.
