There was a small issue with SM 1.2.9 that meant on patched versions of PHP below 4.1.0, it'd run the wrong code, and never set the login. Do you have shell access? You may want to take a quick look at this: http://sourceforge.net/mailarchive/forum.php?thread_id=1287453&forum_id=2995 And see if applying any of the changes makes any difference. As for your original issue, we can see if it pops up again after you apply the mentioned changes.
