Until the 1.4 series greets us, you can use the following latest patch
for Japanese compatibility on 1.2.9. Masato has been working on the
Japanese patch for a long time, and updates it very quickly to address
bug issues or add features (such as word wrap in Japanese as well as
English, etc.).

If you can read Japanese, here is the SquirrelMail section of his site:

http://www.yamaai-tech.com/squirrelmail.html

And here is where the latest patch for 1.2.9 is available.

The latest patch (for 1.2.9) is squirrelmail-1.2.9-ja-20021125-patch.gz.

There are also rpms available for Red Hat Linux 7.2 and 7.3 (8.0 ones
will be prepared soon - now getting the build machine ready).

There is also a mailing list (in Japanese) for Japanese language
support:

If Deano, you find a bug specific to Japanese use or in the Japanese
patch, please report it to the mailing list
( [EMAIL PROTECTED] ) and we will follow-it up. If it is
something that can be easily fixed, then just that will be done, and if
the changes are relevant to the Japanese compatibility code for future
the (.org) releases, they will be sent up stream.

There is a growing user base of SquirrelMail in Japan and in the
Japanese language, being used personally and in production environments.
(To give one example) I personally have integrated the Japanese capable
SquirrelMail into an environment of around 150 users, and they seem happy.

I hope this is of some help.

Scott.
