Ummm, I *think* someone recently did a mod for the Quicksave plugin (see the compose section of the plugins) so that the "cancel" button closes the compose window. I think the last release of Quicksave I put up includes that function, however, it does not include the nice little hack that that person also had that closed the compose window after sending. That is a change in the SM source, so you either have to do the same hack or beg the developers to make that change.
