Hi

Hope someone can shed some light on this. I am using Apache 2.0.44, PHP 4.3, CMU's Cyrus IMAP server (2.1.12) and the recommended version of tmpwatch.

The IMAP server works happily from any client e.g. kmail, outlook, even imtest works. There are no problems creating, deleting, renaming folders using any of these mail clients.

Basically I cannot get squirrel mail (latest version) to work. I get the lovely login screen and when I log in I get two error messages (in different frames?):

|> ERROR : Could not complete request.
|> Query:SELECT "INBOX"
|> Reason Given: Mailbox does not exist

and

|> ERROR : Could not complete request.
|> Query:EXAMINE "INBOX"
|> Reason Given: Mailbox does not exist

When I look in the error logs for the webserver I can see several errors from PHP saying:

"PHP Notice: Undefined variable: _SESSION in /usr..../global.php on line 80"

What I have done so far:

1) Made sure all the squirrel files are owned by the web user.

2) Verified the imap server is working, accepting connections and user activity.

3) Manually created the various folders e.g. Drafts, Sent, etc, and turned off the option to create folders automagically.

4) Tried the various fixes listed on www.squirrelmail.org which involve changing the value of "Default Folder Prefix". I have tried changing this using the config.pl file and also editing the config.php file. I have tried all the various combinations of '' "" '.' ' ' 'none' "none" none "'none'" 'INBOX' 'INBOX.' - you should get the drift. None of these options work.

I have to confess to being a little worried by the "SELECT INBOX" part of the error message - this looks suspiciously like SQL - I do not have any SQL server on the machine but do note that the squirrel website claims not to need one.

Any help would be greatfull appreciated - if there is any info that I have left out then please let me know and I shall supply it.

Many thanks
