That's correct, email addresses used in mailheaders may not contain 8bit
characters and that's why 8bit characters are encoded (Quoted Printable).

When you decode the encoded string you see the original address again.

That's what SM 1.4.CVS does. If you have an older version you might
consider an upgrade or like Paul said get another girlfriend :)
