Dear All I know it is bad form to reply to your own post.
This delete problem annoyed me so I had another look at all the options etc using conf.pl and I seem to have solved the problem by setting true thread and sort support in the general settings. Now what happens if messages are deleted is the page is refreshed correctly before I changed these settings the page was not refreshed. Maybe these should be set to true if your imap server is cyrus. Surely these options should be under the server settings.
