I hope Zeno doesn't mind me answering for him...we have had some emails
outside of the list.  He uses UW IMAP and I am using NTMail (not by my
own choice mind you ;)

The only major difference between messages sent by the different clients
seems to be in the message parts.  Messages with sub-parts fail, while
messages with separate parts succeed. 

For example....SM sends an html (fancy text) email with attachment as:
Part 1: text/html
Part 2: image/png

While O/OE or Evolution send html messages with attachments as:
part 1 multipart/mixed
part 1.1 multipart/alternative
part 1.1.1 text/plain
part 1.1.2 text/html
part 1.2 image/png

That's my 2 cents, I could be wrong.....it wouldn't be the first time.
