I've discovered the reason Squirrelmail was timing out when clicking send from some networks. I originally thought this was a proxy problem on the remote machine, but it turns out it was a problem with the mtu value being too high on the server. I only put two and two together when postfix started to timeout a lot of messages.
As I hadn't seen this problem solved in this way before, and I noticed this problem in SM first, I thought I'd post it to the list.
