I hit this possible bug the other day too, my workaround was to login using backslashes (in your example, domainname\username\firstname.lastname) - I do know that the backslashes are handled properly by SquirrelMail.. I think this was available as of SM 1.4.1 if I remember correctly.
SM Developers: Should the forward slashes also be handled like the backslashes are?
