OK, for all you whiners out there... ;-> This has been moved into cvs (1.4.3!) (although for anon cvs, you'll have to wait a day or so). It is implemented as a display preference, where you may choose to leave the focus in the TO field, focus in the body (may end up placing the cursor at the end of the body depending on your browser) or selecting the entire body text.
