I'm curious if anyone else has run into this issue - I got called on a user who was having trouble logging in to SquirrelMail, they were getting the blank right frame and a "Loading..." status when initally logging in to SquirrelMail. The user had 6,500 messages in their INBOX, and after a little investigation, I realized they had set to "Thread View" which was causing SM to hit the 30 second PHP script timeout.. setting it to Unthread View caused SM to display the Inbox almost instantaneously.
Would there be any sane way to tell SquirrelMail to IGNORE Thread View and do a standard old "Unthread View" if a particular mail folder had in excess of 1,000 messages?? I really hate to disable Thread View for all of the users just to keep some of our abusers from running into this perceived problem.. but we have too many pack-rat e-mail users here at TI, so I can't just tell the user to clean up their act... and expect any change in behavior. Other than that, SM is really shining here at TI.. =) -- Chris Winterrowd Unix E-mail Administrator Texas Instruments Inc.
