If auto-expunge is turned on, there is no "marked for delete" from the
user perspective.  Behind the scenes, any message the user clicks to
delete gets copied to the trash, marked for deletion in the current
folder, and expunged.  Simple.

Emptied (all messages marked for deletion and expunged).  The folder
itself is not affected.

Only with the Empty_Trash plugin.  Vanilla SM will do no such thing.
