Your server does not support CHARSET option or there are IMAP4rev1 compatibility issues. But SquirrelMail should not generate such error. CHARSET "US-ASCII" part can't be added in any vanilla SquirrelMail translation. If you have modified SquirrelMail, try reproducing error on vanilla SM. or disable 4. General Options -> 14. Use charset in search.
