I looked briefly through the FAQ but couldn't see this one listed.

I had messages from the last few days, both read and unread, in my email
inbox. This morning everything had vanished, I assume deleted, but nothing
went into the trash and it was all there when I went to sleep last night. The messages aren't in the drafts or sent folder, either, and I haven't
added any other folders. Is there any way I can find/retrieve these
messages or is it a lost cause? What caused them to disappear?

Thanks in advance,
Swift

Sounds like your mail spool is gone (independent of SM). See if your provider happens to have back-up or if they know what happened. Not a SM expert by any means, but I believe SM only reads the spool, no spool, no inbox. AFAIK this only can occur if something happened to the servers mail "spool" itself. (/var/spool/mail usually). If you have access to the server (assuming UNIX or LINUX) and you have access to the shell you can check your account that way, likewise try and download your email via a local client (Thunderbird/Mozillla are both free downloads www.mozilla.org) and see if it happens to be there.

Good Luck,
/Ray
