Jonathan,
Thanks for looking at this. I downgraded to an earlier version, and that solved the problem. That doesn't mean that the problem doesn't still exist, naturally, but I'm over the hump in terms of getting a server up and running.
Let me apologize for the lack of log entries. There appear to be no errors in the log entries when SM makes an attempt to connect. At least I cannot see them. When I connect from OUTLOOK, the following occurs in the logs :
Feb 25 12:47:01 mail2 imapd[6376]: imap service init from 67.117.74.178
Feb 25 12:47:01 mail2 imapd[6376]: Login user=kenm host=adsl-67-117-74-178.dsl.sntc01.pacbell.net [67.117.74.178]
Feb 25 12:47:02 mail2 imapd[6376]: Command stream end of file, while reading line user=kenm host=adsl-67-117-74-178.dsl.sntc01.pacbell.net [67.117.74.178]
When I connect using SM 1.4___ the following occur:
Feb 25 11:51:04 mail2 imapd[5899]: Missing command before authentication host=mail2.techsolutionsgroupllc.com [127.0.0.1]
Feb 25 11:51:04 mail2 imapd[5899]: Autologout host=mail2.techsolutionsgroupllc.com [127.0.0.1]
Feb 25 11:51:04 mail2 imapd[5899]: Logout user=??? host=mail2.techsolutionsgroupllc.com [127.0.0.1]
I hope that helps a little. I certainly want to get this resolved and move up to 1.4 of SM, but the pressure is off of me now and that's a good thing. :)
I had uninstalled and re-installed SM 1.4 and used the standard configuration (with org titles changed, for example) so what more would you like to know about my configuration? I have to do some things this weekend, and will not be working on this server for a few days, but I now have a test server to play with at length to sort this out. For the record, I have the UW IMAP server installed (it comes with RH 8 & 9) and have done nothing with it other than to install it when I installed the OS.
I will certainly search the archives for LOGINDISABLED, likely tonight or tomorrow.
Thank you for all your help in this, I *KNOW* I've been a pain. It's just that we're under such pressure the last few months, our clients all wanting to abandon SBC because of all the email atrocities that have been occurring. Now we have big-guns servers installed and operational and I can take a breather and sort this stuff out in a controlled fashion.
Thanks again
Mairhtin
