Greetings:

I have a Debian Linux 2.4.20-p3 #1 SMP server with PHP Version 4.3.3RC3,
postfix & courier imap-ssl & ldap packages, Apache/1.3.27 Server. I have
installed all of them with apt-get, and they work well in delivering &
retrieving mail for hosted accounts in the secure mode on port 993. It has
worked well for Mozilla and outlook express; both complained about the generic
certificate, but once that is accepted all is well. I installed squirrelmail
1.4.0 with apt-get, and configured it for the TLS on port 993. When I attempt
to log on, I get "ERROR : Connection dropped by imap-server." My syslog file
shows this entry:

Apr  5 23:56:53 old-geezer imapd-ssl: Connection, ip=[::ffff:127.0.0.1]
Apr 5 23:57:53 old-geezer imapd-ssl: couriertls: accept: error:140760FC:SSL
routines:SSL23_GET_CLIENT_HELLO:unknown protocol

I have searched google and the archives here, and they all seem to check the
courier configuration, the php configuration or the squirrelmail
configuration. As far as I can tell, they are correct. The courier
configuration works fine with other programs. The php_info shows '--with-
openssl=/usr'. And I set the squirrelmail configuration file to

1. Domain : implode('', file('/etc/hostname'))
2. Invert Time : false
3. Sendmail or SMTP : SMTP

A. Update IMAP Settings : localhost:993 (courier)
B. Update SMTP Settings : localhost:25

I'm not great at configuring things, as apt-get usually does a good job. Can
anyone tell me what I missed? Is any more information needed?

Thank you.
