I saw this previous post (see bottom of this email) from last year, but no answer.
It appears that I have the same problem described in that email.
My web host uses cPanel and has SquirrelMail (version 1.4.0).
I have a master email account, and several separate sub-accounts, all of which have distinct mailboxes.
When I send an email from SquirrelMail from one of the sub-accounts, the return-path is shown as the master account.
For example, when I send email from [EMAIL PROTECTED], the email incorrectly contains this in the header:
"Return-path: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>"
Any of the other sub-accounts (e.g. [EMAIL PROTECTED]) also generates this same incorrect return-path.
Do you log in as "[EMAIL PROTECTED]" when you are using the sub-account? What are the settings for that user in Options->Personal Information? Try to send actual mail headers from a message sent from a sub-acct so we can verify that the From/Reply-To is b0rked.
When I use either Horde webmail or my local NetScape 7.0 client, the return-path is correct, as in "Return-path: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>"
QUESTION: What is causing this problem, and what can I tell my web host to do to fix it? My host says they are aware of the problem, but have no idea how to fix it.
Solution: if your hosting company says they can't fix something that is obviously fixable and tells you you have to go find the problem/solution, then I say it's high time to find another host.
Solution: answer above questions, include as much detail as possible, if the username plugin is installed, turn on the username display (by going to Options->Display Preferences) and see what that gives you.... keep poking around...
In the end, this problem will make SquirrelMail unusable for me and my client, because emails can appear to be sent successfully, when they are not.
Too bad, because it's not SquirrelMail that is unusable, it's SquirrelMail on your host's machine.
