i think this could be the same problem i requested help for between 30May and 15Jun this year...
you can navigate my posts in order to check if they match your situation...
but i obtain no solution.
in brief my situation was: 1: sender is Ms Outlook, 2: pdf is correctly received, 3: squirrel (and other clients (yahoo, for example)) incorrectly decode the "quoted-printable" attached file. (I also gave instructions in order to replicate the problem).
there are also problems with IE and pdfs... you can search for them in Microsoft knowledge base.
bye

I'm having similar issues as reported before...
Details:
Imap Server - uw-imap 2002e (under Solaris 9 - Sparc - separate box) PHP - 4.3.8 Web Server - Apache 1.3.31 Platform - RedHat ES 3 AS Installed/compiled from source all of the above.
Plugins in use: compatibility multilogin
A message has a PDF attached to it. In the bottom of the message there's the option to click on the name of the PDF on the left, and to Download the PDF on the right.
When clicking on the name of the PDF, under IE, and the Acrobat reader
plugin enabled (v6.01), Acrobat loads (if not on memory) and I get a
blank page.
Selecting to download the PDF, I get the option to Save or Run from current location. Either option will run Acrobat separatedly and correctly load the PDF.
Finally, I tested up with Netscape 4.x, which did not have the inline plugin. When selecting the option to open the PDF directly, Acrobat loaded (not embedded) and this time I did get an error message:
"Adobe Reader could not open 'VUTRV7DF.PDF' because it is either not a supported file type or because the file has been corrupted (for example, it was sent as an email attachment and wasn't correctly decoded)."
Apache logs the download directly as follows:
x.x.x.x - - [01/Sep/2004:13:00:47 -0400] "GET /webmail/src/download.php?absolute_dl=true&passed_id=436814&mailbox=INBOX&ent_id=2 HTTP/1.0" 200 31255
And when attempted to open the PDF directly like:
x.x.x.x - - [01/Sep/2004:13:12:18 -0400] "GET /webmail/src/download.php?startMessage=1&passed_id=436814&mailbox=INBOX&ent_id=2 HTTP/1.0" 200 31255
I discarded the IMAP issue, as I have no problems when opening the attachment if using another IMAP client (OE, Netscape 4.x).
Thanks in advance...
